About Ashley Nartey
Ashley has been in the field of education for over 10 years. She was a classroom teacher for many years before transitioning into leadership. Ashley has an extensive background working in inclusion settings and supporting children with a range of learning abilities and needs. Ashley considers herself an advocate - she incorporates culturally responsive practices into her teaching, and is passionate about all children having a strong start to their educational trajectory.
Ashley holds B.S in Psychology from Penn State, a M.S. in Early Childhood Special Education from Johns Hopkins, and is currently working on her PhD in Early Childhood Education and Education Leadership at George Mason.
Ashley believes in growth mindset and often reminds students and families that "we are all still learning". She uses multisensory instruction, humor, and scaffolding to help students achieve their goals. Her ideal student is curious, kind, and eager to learn.
Ashley is a native of the Washington, D.C metro area. In her free time, Ashley enjoys listening to music and podcasts, rooting for her favorite sports teams, and traveling with family and friends.
