Lindsey
Lindsey Marie Panes is a Master of Arts Graduate Student in Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University. She also received her Bachelor’s in Sociology from Rutgers University. Lindsey loves learning and teaching about culture and cognition, as well as their relation to media, technology, and the press. Her other research interests include self-presentation, interventions, social change, politics, storytelling, climate change, fashion, and all things trivial and social.
She is eager to research more about the development of diverse points of view of people and investigate what shaped them. Her interest lies in tracing the rationale underlying the affinity for certain ideologies, as she is curious to understand why these beliefs make sense to individuals. Lindsey hopes that this will give more context and insight into her questions about diverse realities and cognitive biases, especially in the realm of mis- and disinformation.
Furthermore, she recently joined DAKILA, a Philippine non-profit organization, as a researcher and strategist. In this role, she contributes to developing effective narrative frameworks that advocate for social justice and drive action through various creative mediums, including arts, media, and popular culture.

She aims to help students discover their voices and explore who they are through the transformative power of writing. She encourages students to see writing as both a tool for self-expression and a means of understanding the world around them. By fostering curiosity and building meaningful connections, Nathalia creates a space where young minds can feel confident, valued, and free to experiment, helping them grow as writers and as individuals.
In her free time, Nathalia Velasco Herrera enjoys exploring her creativity through acrylic painting, graphic design, and writing. She also has a deep love for books and is often either recommending one or reading one.
